Based on the trends we've seen so far in 2013. In 2014 we
will see many emerging technologies mature and grow beyond what we could have
imagined just a few years ago.
So, here are the top seven predictions for technology trends
that will dominate 2014
1. Consumers can expect that the capabilities of Smart TV
We will continue to see fierce competition among major
players like Samsung, Panasonic and LG. Prices will have to go down, as more
consumers crave, even expect, the ability to use Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Instant
Video and web browser through your TV. Of course , the development we are all waiting for the
release of 2014 's most anticipated Apple iTV . Apparently, the iTV is now in
the early development stage , and that Apple may be in the process of making a
deal with Time Warner to facilitate programming of Apple devices .
The device is rumored to include iCloud syncing , the
ability to control your iPhone, and LCD panels Ultra HD . Keep an eye out for
this release and in the summer of 2014.
2. Smart watches will become 'smart'
Instead of having to take out your Smartphone or tablet for
email frequently, text and social networking updates, you can take a look at
his watch. 2014 is the year to keep an eye out for the Google clock. It
is rumored that the device will integrate with google Now, which aims to
provide perfectly relevant information when and where you want, and before you
had wanted. We'll see smart watches become even smarter, learning what
news and updates are important to us, when we receive them and respond more
accurately to voice controls. For smart watches succeed, they will have to offer something
our Smartphone can not, if it means more intuitive notifications, or the
ability to learn from our daily activities and behaviors (eg, control of heart
rate), which be interesting to see.
3. Google Glass still be in the mode of "wait and see
"
Glass While Google has not yet been released to the general
public, we have heard enough about it to know that it is too early for this
technology. With an estimated 60,000 units expected to sell in 2013, and a
multi-million predicted in 2014, is still a long way to become a common
household technology.
These augmented reality glasses allow you to access
information such as email and text, take photos and videos with hands-free,
translate effortlessly to your voice, and even gets superimposed walk, bike or
road, right inside your field of view. It is predicted that both Google Glass 2.0, and its companion,
the crystal App Store, should be released to the general public sometime in
2014. Be on the lookout for competition in this market, especially
the big players like Samsung. I predict that we will see much of this
competition aimed at niche markets such as sports and healthcare.
4 . Other applications and uses for Apple TouchID emerge
The launch of the iPhone 5S has, for the first time, made
progress in fingerprint security a reality. The potential of touch technology
is really taking off identification, I think, an inevitable reality. Touch ID,
using a high resolution camera to scan your fingerprint, allows ultra -
convenient security of your iPhone. Today, technology is limited, the only real uses are
unlocking your iPhone, and shopping in the App Store. My prediction is that we
will see this incorporated into other products soon Apple technology. I think
we'll see even TouchId MacBook integrated products later this year or next. TouchID also predict, though not entirely error-free, will
be used for other purposes, such as integrating safely with security systems,
software access password, and even pay for your purchase (more on this in a
future article).
5. One Xbox and PS4 lines between entertainment and video
games blur
New game consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) are increasingly
integrated media and social connectivity among the players. Players could have
followers, work together to achieve goals in the game, and the new technology
will allow players to compete equally qualified. The PS4, scheduled to be released on November 15 and the
controller will track the player's face and movements for the most intuitive
game. In addition to a great game, these systems will experience
much more inclusive entertainment. For example, instead of switching between TV,
games, music and sports, you'll be able to do two or even three activities from
side to side, or easily toggle.
6. 3D printing start to revolutionize the production
We have seen a huge increase in the popularity of 3D
printing this year, along with a dramatic fall in prices. The ability to easily
create multi-layered products that are actually usable - well, that's pretty
amazing. I'll be seeing a move towards simpler products that are
produced close to home, and for greater personalization, given the ease of
manufacture. I think it's inevitable that manufacturing in countries like China
will become less attractive and lucrative for companies considering the high
cost of shipping and handling of contracts abroad. I do not expect these changes to reach its full effect in
2014, however, I think companies will begin to consider how this will affect
their production plans for 2015 and beyond.
7. The movement toward natural language search is the most
accurate and intuitive search
With the emergence of smart personal assistants as Google
and Apple's Siri Now, the goal is to have the information delivered to you
intuitively, often before you even ask for it. The change seems far from having
to actively request data, and instead of passively delivered to your device. Natural language searching continue to advance search based
on keywords, as shown by the movement toward lengthy Google searches, more
natural with their recent release of Humming bird, most Google algorithm update
so far.
